Friday, June 26th, 2009The Inaugural Sintak Drive to Share Project
Saturday, June 13th, 2009SINTAK is a Singapore-Takeo (Cambodia) project that focuses on assisting in the uplift of the social and education of children in the Takeo Province.
The programme started when a group of Singaporean volunteers raised funds to construct a community hall for the benefit of the children. Working with MEAKEA, a local NGO (non-governmental organization), the children were given language classes and cultural dancing classes. It became obvious that the children benefited from the programme.
To provide the children with the opportunity to take charge of their lives, and indeed careers, a child sponsorship scheme was launched as a collaborative effort between MEAKEA and Singaporean volunteer. The SINTAK programme proved to be useful, but suffered from the problem of sustainability.
Sustainability being the key to the success of the SINTAK collaboration, the Singaporean volunteer moved on to plan a fund raising project – a across lower Asia drive from Singapore to Phnom Penh.
The target for this project is S$20,000 – of which 100% will be committed to support the education of children in Takeo Province (Cambodia).

Small Plans Big Dreams
Saturday, June 13th, 2009This is the result of the meeting of 3 people. A retired colonel and 2 teachers. What do they have in common? The desire to better the lives of the children in Takeo Province, Cambodia. Serendipity some might call it.
They met in Phnom Penh in November 2008 and from there started keeping in contact and thinking of how to create a sustainable programme for the children’s education.
Hence the idea of a drive from Singapore to Cambodia, Takeo Province, through Malaysia and Thailand. A simple gesture of sincerity in hope to raise funds and awareness for the well being and education of some children in a small province in Cambodia.
Small Plans, Big Dreams.
